Recently, I found myself bombarded with this grim statement: “healthy eating is a privilege of the rich”. Even though I already suspected it, just knowing for a fact that I can't afford to eat as healthy as I wished made me a bit sad.

It's hard not to feel discouraged about this, especially since the economy isn't in its best shape right now, but there has to be a way around this. Fortunately, a Google search on “cheap healthy foods” comes up with over 3 million results. Hooray! There is hope.

Apparently, more veggies is the path to affordable health and, to my happiness, eggs turned out to be a cheap and healthy protein source. This page might not be updated, but it shows a list of “25 Cheap, Healthy, and Delicious Foods” that we could use for guidance. And according to “The Twenty Healthiest Foods for Under 1$”, oats and coffee are an excellent choice.
